CIBC Pan Am / Parapan Am Aquatic Centre & Field House
Located on the University of Toronto Scarborough campus, the CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Aquatic Centre & Field House is the largest new-build for the games, not to mention the biggest investment ever in Canadian amateur sports history.
Built on a former landfill site, this venue is home to Wheelchair Basketball Canada, is the training facility for national level athletes, and of course is used by the community for recreational purposes.
Doubling the number of Olympic-sized pools in the Greater Toronto Area, the Aquatics Centre includes two internationally sanctioned 10-lane, 50-metre pools; a 5-metre deep diving tank with 3-metre, 5-metre, 7.5-metre and 10-metre platforms; and dry-land dive training facilities.
Moreover, the Centre is the only aquatics facility in the region that meets the latest international competition standards.
Beyond its aquatic offerings, this world-class facility is also home to The Field House, featuring gymnasium space for training and competition, as well as an indoor recreational track and fitness area with cardio and weightlifting amenities.
During the Pan Am Games, it will host swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, modern pentathlon and fencing and during the Parapan Am Games, it will host swimming and sitting volleyball.
The Pan Am Games take place from July 10 to 26 and the Parapan Am Games from August 7 to 15. For a list of events, please visit toronto2015.org/schedule.
