Toronto Prep Promoting Excellence In Academics and Beyond
A private, co-educational, university preparatory day school for Grades 7 to 12.
At Toronto Prep, classes begin at 10:00am, with extra help available from 9:00 to 10:00am. Small class sizes and a philosophy of positive discipline play a critical role in the recognition and
fostering of individual strengths.
Educators aim to provide students with direction and discipline without rigidity. “The Toronto Prep School is completely dedicated to providing a superior academic program for the children of parents who value the importance of knowledge, technology, individuality, responsibility, and integrity in a safe, nurturing, and highly motivated environment,” says Fouli Tsimikalis, Director of Admissions.
While there is a dress code at Toronto Prep, there is no uniform, but don’t let that fool you. This school sets high expectations that encourage students to reach their full potential. “We are
committed to developing students who are confident and responsible and exhibit the values necessary to become effective communicators, informed and productive thinkers, self-directed learners, collaborative workers, and skilled information processors and problem solvers,” says Tsimikalis.
Toronto Prep sets the standard for excellence high, ensuring students are always engaged in learning. “We believe that true learning occurs when students are pushed beyond their comfort zone, are asked to think of alternatives, justify their answers [and] break down their thought process,” says Tsimikalis.
While a challenging curriculum encourages students to push themselves academically, character development is seen as equally important in the total educational experience. All students are members of GoodLife fitness and are encouraged to challenge themselves physically through a number of sports activities.
In addition to sports, Toronto Prep offers a breadth of extracurricular activities in the arts. The school is particularly proud of their fashion design and art programs. Other activities include drama, photography, debate, robotics, trivia and mindfulness classes.
