Launched in 2013, Carnivore Club is a Canadian e-commerce business that burst onto the scene of food subscriptions with its successful crowdfunding campaign and notable appearance on the show Dragon’s Den. With the public’s vote of confidence, this young, playful company set out to offer meat lovers a monthly subscription to a delivery of cured artisanal meats.
By featuring a new supplier with every shipment, Carnivore Club differentiated themselves from other meat-of-the-month clubs that were just the same thing over and over again, giving their members the chance to taste and experience a wide and constantly changing variety of fine meats.
The success story doesn’t just belong to the Carnivore Club, as the artisans they choose to feature tend to be small, local charcuterie makers with premium quality product but only a small reach in terms of marketing and brand recognition. Carnivore Club has taken these local Canadian craftsmen and introduced them to a national audience, acting as the perfect matchmaker between eat lovers and talented, up-and-coming meat artisans.
Members of the club get a new box every month, which comes with a Meat Lover’s Handbook that describes perfect pairings, flavour profiles, and comes with fun facts about that month’s supplier and specialty meats.
This year, Carnivore Club is launching two new lines to celebrate their three-year anniversary: a Snack Box that will feature the best of the best from the world of jerky and pepperettes, and an Exotic Meat Crate seasonal special that will be featuring rare items made of unique proteins like antelope, alligator, and kangaroo.
