Stratford Summer Music
Bringing together more than 300 distinguished and emerging artists from around the world, Stratford Summer Music hosts an event you should consider enjoying.
For six weeks, ideas, sounds and performances will change the quiet, picturesque town of Stratford, Ontario into a paragon of ideas expressed through music. 120 musical events spanning across diverse genres highlight the 2017 playbook happening July 17th until August 27th.
Stratford Summer Music helps to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday by not only show-casing talents in both indoor and outdoor venues, but through traditions that date back over 15,000 years.
“With a 2017 move to the air-conditioned Avondale Auditorium, I know our audiences will be delighted with the variety we’ll be offering along with our usual sites downtown, on Tom Patterson Island, and restaurants like The Prune and Revival House. We’ve got parking, seating comfort and accessibility all covered,” said Artistic Producer, John Miller.
Some of the landmark artists include:
Angela Hewitt, James Ehnes, Ron Sexsmith, Jan Lisiecki, Stéphane Tétreault, Buffy Sainte-Marie, the Rolston String Quartet, Jane Bunnett & Molly Johnson, Akwesasne Women Singers and, from France, Les Tambours/Mobile Homme.
On July 17th at 9:30 p.m., we’ll launch the season at Lower Queens Park with a special fireworks display, tinted to honour the 150th anniversary of our national Confederation and the creation of the province of Ontario.
The sounds of Berthold Carrière’s Music for a Midsummer’s Night will set the mood at this event you will not soon forget.
