“MY HEART DROPPED INTO MY CHEST.”
My daughter, Adrianna, had her first epileptic seizure when she was just three months old. I remember how helpless I felt, clutching her as she lost control of her body, petrified of what could happen if she ever left my side.
Then that day finally came… Adrianna had been having seizure after seizure for three days straight. We were both drained. When she finally nodded off I fell asleep beside her, relieved and exhausted. An hour later, the phone rang — it was MedicAlert. They said “Patricia, your daughter wandered away from home.”
My heart dropped into my chest. “…But we’ve found her. She’s safe.” The operator explained what had happened, that a passerby spotted her but Adrianna was too disoriented to even remember our names. The stranger saw Adrianna’s MedicAlert necklace and immediately called the hotline. They gave me her location and soon my lost, precious Adrianna was back in my arms and we were both in tears.
Luckily, my daughter had someone else watching over her – MedicAlert.
