Panorama At Royal Botanical Gardens
From July 1 to 26 Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG) will be bursting with vibrant colours, scents and sounds with the arrival of Panorama, a festival celebrating the nature, culture and heritage of the Americas and the Caribbean, while promoting healthy, active living and environmental awareness. These regions are represented through our plants, natural landscapes, and food, environmental art and music, showcased in the beauty of Hendrie Park.
This new garden showcases the plants of the Pan American region that are now grown and used globally for food, beverages, medicines, textiles, cosmetics, landscaping and more.
Veggie Village comes alive with colour and spice with Chili Peppers: Heating up the World, a feature garden showcasing the diversity of Capsicum annuum cultivars including the hottest of the hot, ‘Bhut Jolokia’ — the Ghost Pepper.
RBG’s Hendrie Park will be jumping with a lineup of performances by talented entertainers representing these diverse cultures.
Entertainment is accentuated by special menu items, cooking demonstrations and delicious workshops by guest chefs as part of RBG’s Edible Weekends. The Gardens Café, RBG’s on-site restaurant, will also feature menus inspired by North American, Latin and Caribbean fare.
• July 4–5; North America
• July 11–12; Caribbean
• July 18–19; Central America
• July 25–26; South America
Find Your Inspiration
Another feature of Panorama is Earth Art, an exciting genre of art created using natural elements — earth, stone, trees, plants, even ice, to create an art form that dialogues with nature.
Four new curated installations will be located at or near the four entrances of the new Global Garden. Artists are being asked to create panoramic installations which are inspired from their country/continent/ region of origin — Inca, Aztec and Caribbean island culture will be explored.
