What did you learn in school today?
Matida thought she’d never go to school. Her parents had little money and what they had was spent on survival. Life after war offers few opportunities to poor children in Sudan.
One day, she saw some children coming out of a classroom. Some of them were her neighbours. She asked how their families could afford it. “They don’t need to,” they told her, “it’s offered by a group called War Child.”
And not just the fees but the books, pens and teacher salaries as well.
Matida’s life changed that day. Now she wants to become a teacher, so she can help poor kids when she grows up. “I believe education is the key to life,” she told us.
You can change children’s lives, too. Just go to warchild.ca/yearend and make a donation. And until Dec. 31st your gift will be matched dollar for dollar. That’s twice the education and twice the opportunity
