Wake Up with the BT Family
For 25 years people all over the province have chosen to usher in a new day with Breakfast Television (BT). In fact, this all-Canadian news and entertainment program is Toronto’s number one morning show — and for good reason. Airing from 5:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. each weekday on City, BT updates you on everything you need to know from weather and traffic to cooking tips and the next ‘must-see’ box office blockbuster.
While there’s no doubt the steady stream of celebrity interviews, live-eye reports and entertaining lifestyle segments are what initially attracts viewers to the show, it’s the charisma of BT’s on-screen personalities that has families tuning in day after day.
The electric chemistry between BT’s two Co-Hosts, Kevin Frankish and Dina Pugliese makes for some real on-screen fireworks. Their relationship dates back nearly a decade when Dina joined the BT team in 2006. Though Kevin had already been with BT a whopping 15 years by the time Dina came along, their unique connection instantly resonated with viewers.
Whether they are reporting behind the scenes from the Grammy’s or in the BT studio at Yonge-Dundas Square, people just can’t get enough of this dynamic duo.
Beyond the headline hosts, BT’s supporting team packs a powerful punch. Among the fan favourites is Live Eye Host, Jennifer Valentyne. Originally hired as the “Singing Weathergirl” in 1992, today Jennifer makes a splash with her off-the-cuff journalistic style.
With no shortage of personality, Digital Media Correspondent, Winston Sih handles the show’s social media platforms, keeping tabs on what’s trending online and reviewing the latest and greatest in the tech world. The newest face to BT, Anchor/Reporter Melanie Ng is quickly winning viewers over with her versatility and passion for news and current events.
Add to mix the energy of former Bachelor Canada heartthrob and Entertainment Reporter, Brad Smith and resident gardening expert and Weather Specialist, Frank Ferragine — whose snappy sense of style is the only thing more dependable than his forecasts — and you have a recipe for success.
While each player performs their role with flawless precision, the show feels less like a well-oiled machine and more like a family, moving with the to-and-fro of life together.
This family dynamic has become one that viewers not only observe but also participate in. Utilizing social media, the BT team invites viewers to get involved with their debates and share their thoughts about the show.
This helps the show evolve with their audience, keeping them connected and engaged members of the BT family.
As a thank you, Breakfast Television wants its viewers to be a part of its 25th anniversary celebrations. Viewers can share their different Disney Sides* for a chance to win a magical WestJet vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
BT is filling the WestJet Magic Plane with BT Toronto viewers for a 5-night WestJet vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, with live broadcasts of Breakfast Television on April 20th and April 21st featuring Kevin and Dina and talent from BTs across the country!
