Let The Games Begin!
TORONTO 2015 Pan American / Parapan American Games. After years of preparation, planning and anticipation, we are just a few short weeks away from the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games. For the first time ever these world-class international multi-sport games will be hosted in our very own backyard, with events being held throughout Toronto and neighbouring communities.
More than 7,600 (6,000 for the Pan Am Games and 1,600 for the Parapan Am Games) athletes from 41 nations will put their years of training, determination and commitment to the test, competing in 36 Pan Am and 15 Parapan Am sports.
However, none of this would be possible without the hard work of the Toronto 2015 Organizing Committee (TO2015), who not only were responsible for planning the games and managing its $1.4 billion budget, but who will also ensure the games go off without a hitch — with the help of some 23,000+ volunteers involved in the games.
Long after the roar of the crowds settle down, the GTA will be left with an extraordinary legacy. Beyond the bragging rights of pulling off the best Pan Am / Parapan Am Games ever (undoubtedly), we will also boast several brand new state-of-the-art sports facilities to enjoy for years to come.
In this issue of ONtheGO we are pleased to introduce you to a few of these impressive new venues; our proud hosts of the TORONTO 2015 Pan American / Parapan American Games.
The Pan Am Games take place from July 10 to 26 and the Parapan Am Games from August 7 to 15. For a list of events, please visit toronto2015.org/schedule
