Out On The Town With Mike Chalut
Holy Construction! Toronto is a city with two seasons: winter and construction! The good news is that the city is busy and full of exciting new projects on the go! As we prepare for the Pan Am/Parapan Am Games in July the city is putting together the final touches on stunning new attractions all over the place. Have you checked out the waterfront at Queens Quay?
It is going to be stunning and will be ready any day for you and your family to enjoy! If you are looking for some adult fun this month you need to go down and spend a day at Cabana — hands down one of the sexiest destinations to eat, drink and play poolside by the pier! Family Festivals, outdoor music concerts, sunshine, lollipops and rainbows — school is soon out for summer and you are in the best city in the world to soak up the sun! Happy June!
June 4th The Power Ball This is Toronto’s most anticipated annual art party! The Power Plant in collaboration with fashion house Max Mara presents the party of the season to kick off the summer! A wild event with live music, massive dance floors and the who’s who of Toronto!
The party brings together fashion, film, media, finance, advertising, music and visual arts — the theme this year is Appetite for Excess! Dress to impress! For tickets www.thepowerplant.org.
June 6th Ed Sheeran at the ACC Grammy nominated Ed Sheeran is coming to town! Hit after hit, this man can’t miss a beat! There are still tickets available for this show at the Air Canada Centre. I suggest you bring someone you want to impress or maybe spark a love interest with! For ticket information visit www.theaircanadacentre.com.
June 18th–29th The Toronto Jazz Festival Toronto is full of outdoor music festivals for all to enjoy! Hands down the Toronto Jazz Festival is my favourite! Head down to the beaches and enjoy the restaurants and the class and sass of the biggest names.
The festival is all over the city with over 350 musicians. If you want to be up close and personal head down to the Jazz Bistro located in Dundas Square they have the most beautiful patio with amazing eats and jazzy sounds all year round! For the full calendar of events visit www.torontojazz.com.
June 21st Happy Father’s Day Take the time for dad this year and explore the great outdoors! So much is happening outside and there are so many new and exciting things in our city to do and see. They offer live entertainment, family activities and a self-guided tour. For information email firstname.lastname@example.org.
June 19th–28th Toronto Pride Over 1 million people turn out every year to celebrate who you are! Doesn’t matter who you love — just love! Pride celebrations happen all over the city. The big party and the parade happens on Sunday the 28th. I am thrilled to be hosting the closing ceremonies this year at Yonge and Dundas Square — everyone is invited! Huge headliners always make a surprise performance!
Who will it be this year? Cher, Lady Gaga or who knows maybe even Madonna! I can promise you one thing this is a celebration you don’t want to miss because the party is all about you! Support a loved one and be proud of being different!
