Good vintage. Good value. This Ontario Chardonnay is straw-coloured with a nose of apples and vanilla oak; medium-bodied, dry, apple flavour. The wine is nicely balanced with a lingering citrus finish. Food match: turkey; cold salmon.

Moris Farms Morellino di Scansano 2012 (Tuscany)
I’m a great fan of Morellino di Scansano, a Sangiovese from Maremma on the Tuscan coast which is lighter in body than Chianti Classico. This wine is ruby-coloured with a spicy cherry nose, medium-bodied, juicy, dry and elegant. Food match: antipasti; pasta.
$19.95 • Vintages #992560
Tommasi Poggio Al Tufo Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 (Tuscany)
Unusual to find a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Tuscany but this one is a bargain. Dense purple in colour it has an earthy, black cherry nose with well extracted fruit (blackcurrant and cherry flavours) and a solid tannic finish. Food match: lamb chops; aged cheddar.
$17.95 • Vintages #203927
Collefrisio Zero Montepulcano d Abruzzo 2011 (Abruzzo, Italy)
Not to be confused with the Tuscan wine Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, this full-bodied, dense wine is purple in colour with a smoky, peppery nose of black fruits. The fruit is sweet and juicy but finishes firmly. Food match: pepper steak; marinated pork ribs.
$14.75 • Vintages #379040
Coltibuono Cancelli Rosso 2011 (Tuscany)
