If you’re heading to the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto this year, you might want to go on a cheat day…and wear your eating pants because this year the CNE has proven there really is no limit to what you can fry.
The 2017 lineup features a wild variety of deep fried, battered, and dipped concoctions you could only dream of. The traditional carnival treats and unique standout favourites have only gone to weirder depths this year. Here are some of the craziest treats you’ll see at the CNE this year!

This year Yati is back with their crowd favourite ramen burger that drew huge lines at last year’s exhibition. The burger consists of ramen noodles grilled into a bun, topped with a beef patty, cheese, lettuce, cabbage, mayo, and this year they’ve added a fried chicken option as well as another sauce. Bacon Nation has put a unique twist on this carnival favourite, bringing a strangely appealing charcoal funnel cake to the exhibition. Bacon Nation all introduced a charcoal lemonade to keep with the theme.

Farm to Fryer stuffs curds along with ooey-gooey mac and cheese into a tortilla and deep fries it all for the ultimate cheesy handheld snack.

Bacon Nation is stealing the show at this year’s CNE, bringing another delicious creation with the pancake bacon taco. Fluffy buttermilk pancakes are stuffed with scrambled eggs, tomato, green peppers, onions, and topped off with maple bacon strips and chipotle syrup.

You might get a cavity just looking at this sweet treat from cake shack! This dessert on a dessert is a brownie topped with cheesecake topped with a white chocolate-dipped sugar cone topped with a confetti donut topped with cotton candy and then sprinkled with powdered sugar.
Spaghetti Donut Balls

Do you prefer your deep fried spaghetti to be sweet or savoury? Why not try both? Fritta is deep frying spaghetti into two different types of donuts; the first contains balls of spaghetti in a sweet and savoury form with chocolate ganache and cinnamon sugar, while the other features balls of spaghetti with savoury tomato sauce and parmesan.
Deep Fried Cheese Curds

King of the Curds is taking Canada’s obsession with poutine and cheese curds to a whole new level. These cheese curds come fried in a light batter and served with a side of maple syrup. It doesn’t get any more Canadian than that!

My personal favourite, Fran’s outdoes themselves with this incredible, decked out sandwich. It features fried buttermilk chicken atop a cinnamon churro bun, topped with freshly made coleslaw, and drizzled with chocolate sirracha sauce.

Philthy Philly’s gives Philly cheesesteak a whole new meaning with this huge, sweet and savoury sandwich. What begins out as a traditional cheesesteak sandwich topped with provolone is smothered in strawberry sauce, icing sugar, whipped cream, and placed in between a donut bun.
Dragon’s Breath Crepe

One of the most unique treats at this year’s exhibition is Eative’s liquid nitrogen dessert. This crepe on a stick is froze using liquid nitrogen so that when you take a bite out of it, it creates a “dragon’s breath” effect that blows from your nose and mouth when your breath.

Meat lovers will rejoice in this new creation by Hot Bunzz, that features five different types of pork stuffed into one bun: slow roasted five spice pork belly, slow-roasted pulled pork shoulder, sweet longanisa sausage, crispy pork skin, and a pork soup dumpling. The whole thing is then topped with Japanese mayo and honey-apple slaw.

San Francisco’s takes their already legendary sandwiches to a new level with this beast: a fresh Kaiser bun topped with breaded veal, creamy coleslaw, jalapeno peppers, barbeque sauce, and an entire deep-fried pulled pork panzerotti. To make it even sweeter it comes topped with two brownies, because why not?
