A Passion For Travel Leads To A Career
Inspired by her parents to follow her passion for travel, Chelsea chose Humber’s Bachelor of Commerce – Hospitality and Tourism Management program.
Chelsea got firsthand experience in the industry when she was invited by a professor to be an international research assistant in eastern Africa.
Her job was to help develop the tourism sector for the Maasai villages in Kenya in a sustainable, socially responsible way.
“The experience was life changing and opened up a world of opportunities to advance my career,” says Chelsea. “Next year we will be writing a paper on our findings, which will be published in 2015.”
During Chelsea’s last year, she completed a work placement at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge — an opportunity that led to a full time job with a full-time view of the Rocky Mountains.
“After graduation, I was rehired in the front office where I can advance my career and travel the world with the company.
Humber provided me with an incomparable experience that has shaped my future.”
