Humber Grad’s Biz A Noveltea Act
Tea and book lovers, your time has come — and there’s Humber grad Jorgen Stovne to thank for that.
NovelTea Tins, large tins of tea shaped and designed to look like classic books, reached boiling point on Kickstarter in less than a month last year. Nearly 800 supporters backed the campaign with more than $45,000, far surpassing the original fundraising goal of $10,000.
Stovne, one of three NovelTea cofounders, came to Canada from Norway to study at Humber in 2005 — the first year Humber offered its Bachelor of Creative Advertising program.
“The Creative Advertising program at Humber combined my two favourite things: selling and visual design,” he says. “I lived in Canada a few years prior and loved the education system… and wanted to experience (it) again. I was not disappointed.
“It was a great program then but it’s even better now, judging from the successes of the students they are producing.”
