Fashioning A Dream Job
Stylist uses George Brown College certificate to gain a competitive advantage in the fashion world.
Coneli Camayang was only 23 years old and working in the banking industry when she decided to take her career in a totally different direction. “I’d gone to school for business and went into my nine-to-five, but I always knew I wanted to do something in fashion,” remembers Coneli.
She knew the world of fashion was highly competitive. Coneli needed a way to stand out. For her, that meant completing the Fashion Styling Certificate through Continuing Education at George Brown College.
When she started taking courses, Coneli was already juggling a lot of responsibilities. The environment at George Brown made it possible for her to fit schooling in to her already busy life.
“The best thing about my teachers was how flexible they all were. They knew the situation I was in, trying to balance a full-time and two part-time jobs, and they were extremely supportive of that.” the situation I was in, trying to balance a full-time and two part-time jobs, and they were extremely supportive of that.”
Talk to other students and faculty about what they are doing and opportunities they may have for you.” Since completing the certificate in March 2013, Coneli has started to make a name for herself in the industry and has worked with such clients as Joe Fresh, HBC, The Bachelor Canada and Boston Pizza.
