A Fashionable Time In London
When Humber College Fashion Management student Jennifer Lewis learned about the opportunity to go to London as part of the program, she jumped at the chance.
“I wanted to go on this trip to gain experience from a more international standpoint on the fashion industry. I thought it would also be a great way to explore new opportunities and network,” Lewis, who is in her third year, said.
Approximately a dozen students from the program went on the week-long international learning experience in May. They had private tours of major fashion houses including Burberry, Topshop and Selfridges.
The visit to Topshop was a highlight for Lewis. “Getting to do management training at the Topshop headquarters in London was an excellent way to gain insight on the operational, physical, retail and customer service level of the company. It really made me want to work overseas.”
The program, she adds, has been a great way to learn about all facets of the industry.
“(The program) is very specialized and gives you open opportunity to explore the fashion industry. There are not many programs like this, so anyone with a passion for fashion and business would enjoy it.”
