Support For You. Care For Those Who Depend On You.
1 in 4 Canadians are family caregivers
For most it’s a proud duty; an opportunity to give back to people who have played an important role in their lives by ensuring their parent or spouse can continue to live with dignity, hope and happiness.
But it’s no easy task and many find they take on more than they can handle.
• 66% constantly worry about their loved ones’ health and well-being.
• 43% wish they had more information about managing their loved ones’ conditions.
• 68% feel they do not have all the support necessary to assist their loved ones with confidence.
• 54% feel emotionally drained after taking on caregiver responsibilities.
Through its own research and 18,000 in-home health care visits per day in Canada, Saint Elizabeth Healthcare was acutely aware of the challenges facing family caregivers. In 2015 it launched Elizz, a suite of services, information and resources aimed at providing necessary support to the over 8 million Canadians who act as family caregivers. The intent was to widen the lens of health care to include the families who help take care of patients.
Over 50,000 Canadians visit Elizz.com every month.
Elizz accounts for the personal and everchanging circumstances of the family caregiver by creating a customized experience. Services like the Caregiver Coach, Nurse Advisor and Caregiver Counselling help caregivers understand their options, navigate the health care system and give them a renewed sense of control.
