Your First Step to Looking Younger is as Simple as Smiling According to New Research by NIVEA Q10plus
Never mind expensive surgery, the first step to a more youthful appearance is a happy face. A study carried out by leading anti-aging skincare brand, NIVEA Q10plus, revealed that the simple act of smiling takes an average of two years off a person’s age.
The study asked 2,000 people to estimate the age of 12 females in photographs showing three distinct emotion states — happy, neutral and sad. It found that emotion had a significant effect on age estimations with happy faces perceived as younger than neutral, and neutral faces younger than sad. Furthermore, when comparing the estimated age of the happy faces with the women’s actual age, it revealed that a smiley face took an average of just under two and a quarter years off a person’s age. Sad expressions however put around a year on people.
The benefits of smiling
“There’s a lot to be said for smiling and helping you look younger is just one of the benefits.” commented Positive Psychologist Miriam Akhtar. “Happy people experience a whole range of advantages from greater vitality and longevity to greater success in life and smiling is the universal sign of happiness. Smiling reduces stress, releases endorphins and relaxes the body so we look and feel less tired and worn-out. It also helps to increase blood circulation to the face which can make us look more youthful.”
Q10 and youthfulness

Complementing the skin with energy coenzyme Q10 gives you that extra hand to help preserve younger-looking skin for longer while you enjoy laughing off the years doing what you love.”
