New Year, Fresh Start

As January approaches you may be thinking ahead as to how you want to start the New Year. This will likely include some of the things that most people do: goal-setting, cleansing and working out. Each of these are great ideas, yet for many reasons they either aren’t successful, or they are short-lived. If these are goals you have for starting 2017 off on the right track, here are some tips on how to set yourself up for success.
GOAL-SETTING: If you set goals for this year, review them to see which ones you achieved, as well as those you didn’t. Perhaps you just need more time to accomplish them, or maybe they are no longer relevant and you can scratch them off your list. Since our priorities shift as the year progresses it’s always a good idea to review your goals to ensure they are still in line with your current priorities. If goal-setting is new to you, set aside some time to think about what is important to you. Be sure to set realistic goals and assign timelines to each one to help keep yourself on track.
CLEANSING: Doing a cleanse or detox does not have to be difficult or time-consuming. Forget about complicated meal plans. Life is busy, simplify it with a gentle cleanse that requires nothing more than clean eating and drinking a soothing herbal tea blend to support your body’s natural cleansing. The holidays are a time of excess and your body likely needs a little help eliminating the excess sugar and alcohol; try drinking a cleansing tea every day for a week or two and start the year feeling your best.
WORKING OUT: Anytime of the year is the perfect time to start a work-out regimen, but January always seems to be the cult favourite. If you are going to begin a new training program make sure you pick something that you enjoy doing. With the wide variety of fitness classes available today there is absolutely no reason to mindlessly run on a treadmill, unless of course that’s what you love doing! Try something new, such as spinning, barre, kickboxing, Cross Fit… the list goes on. Why not spend the month trying out a new class every week until you find something that you enjoy doing.
