The Movement For Free Education
If you’re a student at Ryerson, York, OCAD, George Brown or U of T, you’re a member of the Canadian Federation of Students. The CFS is Canada’s largest and oldest student organization, uniting 650,000 university and college students from coast to coast.
When students work together, we can make progressive change. Our tireless advocacy has won a number of victories in recent years. Three provinces, including Ontario, now require campuses to have standalone sexual violence policies that promote consent and support survivors. In 2016, we won a 50% increase to the Canada Student Grants program, putting more up-front grant money in students’ pockets.
The Federation also provides cost-saving services, including the International Student Identity Card (ISIC), available free to members of the Federation. The ISIC is the only internationally recognized student ID, and gives you access to thousands of discounts in Toronto and around the world. Get yours today online at ISICCanada.ca or at your students’ union office.
We are the only national student organization that proudly campaigns for the elimination of tuition fees in favour of a public system that is accessible to all. Last November 2nd, thousands of students across the country took to the streets calling for free education as part of our national Day of Action.
A public, fully-accessible system of post-secondary education is possible. Together, we can make Canada the next country with free tuition.
Get involved, it’s your movement.
